...and they liked it so much they decided to call it home.

Last spring SECURE partnered with the University of Alberta to conduct a research study on the habitat usage of the Western Toad at sites affected by energy development.

Upon discovery of 40,000 tadpoles in the surface run-off pond at our Fox Creek Class II Landfill, we knew we had created a thriving habitat for these species of special concern. The first of its kind for SECURE, this project will help us understand the needs of this potential new species of Western Toad so that future conservation and protection efforts will be successsful.
